Almond thins with a slice of mozzarella and a piece of salt-cured ham, covered with fig confiture
Introduction
Assure your dinner of a nice opening with this smooth and
delicious appetizer. With the subtle flavor of the almond thins
dressed with a slice of creamy italian mozzarella cheese, a piece
of salt-cured ham and home-made fig confiture you'll be able to
enjoy a true feast of flavors.
This is what you need
- Jules Destrooper Almond Thins
- Fresh Mozzarella
- Salt-cured ham
- 100 grams of fresh figs
- 80 grams of sugar
- 1/3 cup of red port
- 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
This is how you make it
Put the pealed figs together with your sugar, your red port
and your lemon juice in a pot on the fire. Let your mixture simmer
on a low fire for about an hour. After that, let your confiture
cool down completely. In order to serve your appetizers cover the
almond thins with a slice of mozzarella and sprinkle them with some
drops of your cooled down fig confiture. Finish your appetizer with
a choice of ham and you are ready to go!
Chef suggestions
Mozzarella cheese originated in the Campania region, in the
South of Italy. It was in this region the buffalo milk was first
used to this purpose at the time (hence the official name
Mozzarella di Bufala Campana). However, mozzarella, nowadays
produced in different countries, can also be made out of cow milk,
giving the whole a yellowish tinge.
